Hospitilazation issues Empty Hospitilazation issues

Sat Oct 30, 2021 7:24 am
I notice the suggestion board was closed and understandably so.
But playing a somany-eth new game, I once again got frustrated with a little persistent issue I always face with the game. I call it little since the issue does not break anything real and has a workaround to allow me to play this great game, but in reality it does sit in the core of the game.
I think every player has seen this issue; the issue of hospitalised emergency patients been unable to be treated at any other department if there is no hospitalizations there.
If there is no surgery needed and the illness can be treated at clinic level, there should be absolutely no reason why a patient cannot be referred back to clinic level or be treated at the emergency ward. It makes no sense in that regard to have the patient move to a different hospital, especially if clinics are 24 hrs open with multiple doctors.

Now I do realize that Oxymoron probably will not turn around to this anymore and, as said, perhaps understandably so... but it would make the game so much simpler and with a much easier flow if I would again be able to place emergency hospitalization first, instead of last...

Once they have been hospitalised, they have to be discharged from hospitalisation. This is normal, and is what would happen in the real world. You can place emergency hospitalisation first, you just have to do it with ICU and a department, otherwise they get stuck.

Part of the frustration perhaps comes from Emergency doctors willy nilly sending out patients for "observation".
When they collapse, sure I see how in reality you would be transferred to another hospital due to a more serious condition. But if you just need a simple medicine or other treatment, it should not be that you are not allowed to return to the clinic just because a doctor wanted you to sleep a night over due to not knowing anything better to diagnose.

I have to admit, I'm struggling to understand what the frustration is. If a patient collapses, they're taken to ICU/emergency, stabilised, have some tests performed then are sent to a specific department, treated, and discharged the next day. While some patients are geared to collapse as soon as they sit down, others come from a slow-down somewhere in the hospital.

The confusion there is that I consider the patients that do not collapse and are admitted, but as simply admitted by choice of a doctor for a silly reason.

Depending on the reason, they're often admitted for further testing. If they're on observation, they'll be discharged as soon as they're diagnosed, and then will head to the clinic. If you're getting clinic-level treatments admitted to your wards, you need to review your hospital because you're right, that shouldn't be happening.

Hi, let me just add a few notes about the rules for observation:

After the first few tests are done at the doctor's office, you usually end up with a few different possible diagnoses. If one of them is potentially critical, that's when the patient gets sent to observation.
The tests continue there then, which should eliminate some of the diagnoses from the list - and as soon as it's clear the patient's condition can't be critical, they get automatically released back to the clinic.

Hopefully this makes more sense now!
