[RESOLVED NOT A BUG] Root Cause To All General Surgery Loop Bugs Empty [RESOLVED NOT A BUG] Root Cause To All General Surgery Loop Bugs

Hi folks,
I am confident all reported bugs related with General Surgery loop issues are tied to the inability to put a patient into General Surgery HDU, which is a necessary step for many treatments.
You can replicate the issue in 30 sec. using your own developer-created General Surgery challenge scenario.

Step 1) Start the General Surgery Challenge and fully staff department
Step 2) Send the first patient in General Surgery to HDU
Step 3) There is no step 3 Smile

You will see the attached problem notification, stating that there are "no free beds available". Obviously this is not true.

Additional notes
I have been tracking down this problem in my sandbox game for 3 hours and couldn't make it work. Several doctors want to put the patient into General Surgery HDU. All checkboxes are green, all departments available and every station has its own nurse station, common room, toilet, corridor, whatever it takes. But patient cannot be put into HDU directly. Basically explains  why so many Youtube videos don't go further than just placing the General Surgery rooms...

Best regards
Tompaq

Can't confirm. My patients have no problems getting sent to HDU on that scenario.

Hi Soylent,
Thanks for your response. Have you tried to send them in manually, too?
There is not much I can do as a player to correct this. I started the scenario several times to replicate this and the error message is obviously wrong.

Addendum:
Deleted the game from my computer, deleted all remaining folders incl. config, saves etc. Reinstalled the game. Repeated steps in my first post - doesn't work. Patient cannot be send to HDU.

I have had that happen with the ICU, also. The ICU has two of the three vacant beds empty but no one can be sent there. I also had it happen with normal ward beds that had vacant beds that could not be used. In the latter case I built another ward with more normal beds. The patient was moved. A while alter I looked at the first normal ward and it was indeed now full. The beds had not earlier displayed green as used, but the game must have reserved the beds regardless for some patients not yet moved to them.

Yup, manually sending, both directly from the doctors office so they walk there, and from the normal ward so they get moved there on a stretcher. Works no problem Mad

Hi, thanks for the detailed report and thanks everybody for helping!

Looking at the screenshot though, it shows that the patient has Observation selected, not HDU, so there are obviously no free beds for observation available at General Surgery as this type of hospitalization is only provided at Emergency. Selecting HDU in the list of treatments should override observation and get the patient unstuck.

Hope this helps, cheers!

Thank you, Jan. This got me a step further. I am sorry for confusing departments - happened during translation.
However are open to a suggestion regarding the error message. You said, it is not possible to have that treatment in the General Surgery department. Why not say that in the message?

I understand you reasoning about no free beds is the correct error message, however it appears enforced and very logical/technical reasoning. I don't believe this is what a user wants to read when he/she makes a mistake.
Even better: From a UX perspective I find it better simply not to offer treatments that will never be available in that deparment. Any thoughts on this?

Best regards
