Patients Leaving Examinations

I have a question regarding patients. Is there a reason that a clinic patient who has gone for say a blood test, leaves the waiting area of medical labs and returns to a doctor? Once there, they just sit and waste their own and the doctors time. Is there a way to make them go back to the medical labs and wait for their results? If I change department to medical labs they leave the hospital. It happens infrequently, but it does happen. And unless I check every room constantly can end up having a doctor and patient locked in a room while their needs and satisfaction slowly drain, pulling down my over all stats.

Please help me get around this...

Hi, this looks like a bug and sounds oddly familiar - we fixed something similar in November last year:

"fixed patients getting lab specialist reset and not reassigned when going to a lab with multiple samples (causing them not to wait for results)"

Do you think you can send us a save when you see it happen again (possibly with an autosave from right before) so we can have a proper look?

Next time I spot it, I'll send it over

And so here it is. Patient is still waiting on Blood Test results but has returned to the doctor for some unknown reason and will now just sit there.

Hi, thanks for the save (after a bit of hacking-in the insurance mod into the development version I got it to load).

I can see the patient there but on first attempt (prescribing all examinations at once) she waited for the result in a waiting room by the labs - let's see if it happens randomly.

Just chiming in on this, I have noticed this every now and then with my Oncology mod. It is rather heavy on lab tests and I have noticed when say 4-8 lab tests get queued the patient returns to the doctor after a few results and stays there until everything is processed (not so common that everyone does this but often enough I've noticed it)(it can take a decent time, partly the reason I tried to reduce the number of Oncology patients). It has become enough of an issue I've been looking into adding an Observation room to Oncology to try and relieve the pressure from it. I'd assume because I am logging many more lab test and queuing a lot more than normal that it occurs much more often then in stock (log doesn't give anything away unfortunately).

Let me know if you are able to recreate this in the stock game (i do imagine it'd be harder as there aren't that many lab tests that can be mass queued but it is promising that the problem is reported from a game that doesn't use my mod).

I've noticed it when only one lab test has been selected though. They go to the lab, hand over their test, wait a few minutes and then head back to the doctor and sit. I'm yet to see anyone return to the lab once their test has been processed.

I also have a small question, I'm trying to run two separate labs. One for clinic patients and one for hospitalised patients, however, only one sample storage unit gets any tests. ONe is currently queued with 22 tests to run, the other 0. Is there a reason only 1 lab will work properly?
